Most of us are concerned about the title and as you just read it, you will take it as your onus to inform me that i had written something wrong….!
Yeah it’s about the title and some of you going to think yeah we saw that but we were inquisitive to know first, what is the reason behind that.
Why do i write this….?
Well as we all listen often “don’t judge a book with its cover page”
Then let’s see what happened. It was around 8 pm, we all gather for dinner in mess hall, it was long line students were waiting for their turn to get inside the mess and to eat their dinner.
During this some of students start to use their phones using social media etc. Some get busy in their gossip, i was standing with my roommate and we were talking about our classes.
We get in the mess, and there was a page, our roll no. was written on it, we just have to write ‘P’ (present in front of our roll no.) some of students had already declared themselves, present at breakfast time. And some of students were doing their friends present as well, this all they did, just for joy, and I didn’t get any reason behind such attendance there.
As here we just have to sit on our seat and everything will going to be served. As this is a ‘mess of national institute’, so here students were from all across the India. We were waiting for food to be serve, and across the table, a new comer was there with his father, then we generally get introduce to each other, they belonged to middle part of India.
Well according to me if you are doing self service and then you should take the food according to your need and no wastage should be done. So in that horizontal line people sitting next to those are again a newcomer with his guardian, as only two ‘chapati’ were going to delivered to each individual only. The guardian sitting next to them horizontally, asked for one more chapati, as he felt daunting to ate rice again, (in lunch there was rice too). But the distributor refused to give the chapati, as they were strictly ordered to give only two. But the guardian asked again and this time still ‘no’. So noise of debate fall, in the ear of the ‘mess on duty’ guy. There a hope take birth that now the guy will get chapati, and there he find out, that the hope die once again. He totally refused to give another ‘chapati’ and gave the reason behind inconvenience that there is shortage of LPG in mess that’s why..?
It’s not about shortage and chapati; it’s about ‘The very First Impression’. As the parents of newcomer sitting in front of us, said “this place was in jungle, so how facility can be provided to students, the college should be near the city, how it can be an NIT”. So his first impression for our mess was such a mess…!
Now when he will go back to his home, where he originally belong, no doubt he is going to share his experience with others. And this impression didn’t only of the mess, it will going to be related with institute and not only institute, it also going to be related with its state. So when you are working at national level, you are going to represent the whole state. Or when you are working at international level, you are representing your nation.
So what we conclude is that in some case ‘nothing is better than something’ but there is also a saying ‘something is better than nothing’, there is no contradiction we just need to understand properly,
In case of oneself ‘something is better than nothing’
But if you are going to represent yourself in front of someone else, at that time ‘zero is better than half’ or you can say ‘Nothing Is Better Than Something’
